Bucolic: Sheep's Milk

I worry
of Your bones:
heavy
as milk, and sour
as curdle.
Your femur
in the crust
on the pail's rim,
Your ribcage
in the skin.

I break it- must–
consume that milkiness
like a dead lamb's eye:

How else can I
see You, steep
in Your figure,
in both Your whole
and your broken bones?
A bucolic is a poetic form that takes on the voice of a shepherd addressing or praying to God.

I may have taken too much literalism to the idea of a sheep-herder, but I think it's good! It was one of those poems that came out without much of a fight, which is always nice. Hope you enjoy.
